Telecommunications

Currenty the most common Telecommunications is by using the Telstra GSM network. This is an extension of the Australian Telstra GSM network. A GSM handset and a Telstra SIM card are required. Both these items can be purchased in Dili. Mobile Coverage is provided in Dili, Dili Airport, Bacau Airport and Oeccusse.
Telstra GSM mobile service will only be available unitl Feb/Mar 2003
A basic land based telecommunications system is in place, however it is fairly small and expensive to use.
